Christine Chubbuck Documentary

Christine – The Christine Chubbuck Story

This year I’m seeing at least 19 films during the London Film Festival. I’ll be noting down all the films I see with each post going live shortly after the film.

It all kicks off this evening with the story of a TV reporter called Christine Chubbuck in the 1970s starring Rebecca Hall, Tracy Letts and Michael C. Hall.

I loved the performance of Rebecca Hall – she played Christine, a reporter just on the edge of her sanity among her intellectually inferior colleagues at the local news station. After deciding to appease to her boss rather than follow her own path, she makes her own suicidal statement on the TV station’s aspiration: “if it bleeds, it leads”.
